16 September 2011

Today we are leaving Uganda. For the past couple days we have been ministering to the people at some of the churches and were able to relax before returning to the States.  It has been an AWESOME time and we have learned so much. We have made some good friends while here that we look forward to keeping in touch with after we are back.  : )
From here we leave at 11:30p tonight.  Because of the time differences, we will arrive in Atlanta at 1:30p tomorrow afternoon... however the real trip time is 20 hours. : )
Our hosts have been MAGNIFICENT and have treated us like royalty. We cannot begin to express our gratitude for their kindness and graciousness!
We want to thank all of you who have been following these posts and been praying for us!  : )  May the Father richly bless you and enlarge your territory for helping us with your prayers! : )

13 September 2011

yesterday we got to visit His Kids Orphanage and School in Bugadde.  It was a two hour trip out, and about four hours back. (you think traffic is bad in the states!!)  Haha we were able to deliver the items and donations and letters. It was lots of fun.  We also saw the new construction of the children homes. It was good to see and visit the school and teachers again! : )

On the way back we also got to see where the Nile River starts...
It was a great day.  Today was a down day after a long week of teaching and ministering so we repacked some suitcases and relaxed a little.  Tomorrow we will be doing more ministering so please be praying for us as we pray and touch lives for our Loving Papa!! : )
Blessings, y'all! : )

11 September 2011

Today was the last day of the conference. The whole conference was very exciting, and Ward got to teach almost every day, which was stretching for him.  Tonight finished early (8pm) but we didnt get back to hotel until almost midnight. Some of the guest speakers are leaving tomorrow we had a short fellowship time of sitting around and chatting.  Then on the way home we hit a pothole (very common) but this time it bent the tire rim so we ended up with a flat tire. well at least it wasnt raining, but we finally succeeded in changing the tire in the dark in dress clothes... we get the spare tire on and it is pretty much flat too, so we try to get it down the road to the next gas station for air, but by the time we got there it was flat and ruined too.... raspberries... : )  Anyways, our hosts were apologizing profusely and we kept assuring them it wasnt an issue...
so we are headed to the orphanage tomorrow at 8 am... it is now 12:30 am so I think I will close for now... the weather has been great, (rains off and on, and when it rains, it POURS!) food has been super, hosts have been AWESOME and we are having a great time... I hope to update this again tomorrow
BLESSINGS!!

8 September, 2011

Hi All,
we have been without internet access in our room for the past couple days so I apologize for not having anything posted for the past couple days.  : )
the conference is going really well.  There are an estimated 1500 attendees at this point.  The church is full. Preaching has been good, and we have speakers from all over the world in... Tues we had someone in from South Africa, we have Australia, Nigeria, Kenya, United States, and Uganda (of course) so far... pretty big... they even have a 20 foot by 20 foot billboard advertising the conference and our pictures are included in the speakers images... how funny... hahaha we will try to get a pix of that!  Its definitely one for the books! haha
We are doing fine and the food has been good and plentiful. Tomorrow is more speaking which should be the typical schedule for through Sunday when the conference is over. : )  So nothing is TOO exciting but we are off to bed as it is after 11pm and tomorrow comes quickly! : )
BEYOND Blessings!!

4 September 2011

Sunday Evening 10:45p... been a long day but exciting.  It started when we overslept and woke up at the very time we were to be picked up to go to church. YIKES!! hahaha fortunately every one here operates on "Africa Time" and we were able to "quick-ready" in about 20 mins and were only about 5 minutes late to the ride. Haha.  Our Hosts were gracious, of course. : )  We got to the church on time and I found out I was not speaking until the youth service around 6pm.  Many of the conference guest speaks are already here so there was a large pool of speakers to choose from. : )   Thank you for all the prayers, my speaking went very well this evening. : ) For those who know me well, I started off telling my "muffin joke" (two muffins in an oven, first one says to the second "Boy its hot in here" and the second replies "WHOA!! A TALKING MUFFIN!") ... the response was expected... though one of the other guest speakers started laughing, it just struck him funny...  Monday (tomorrow) is an off day before the conference begins on Tues. The conference is Tues through Sunday from 9am-7:30pm(ish). Please remember the church in prayer as they finalize preparations for over 1000 attendees (all of their lodging and meals) from all over Uganda.  'Til next time... : )

WOW!  OK, to bring everyone up to date.  We were at the airport in Atlanta and realized we hadnt arranged with the cell phone company yet that we wanted international calling added to our phone so we could use our cell phone in Uganda.  Thats when we found out that the phone we were taking wouldnt work in Uganda... at ALL.  (Raspberries!)  So we waited until we got to Amsterdam to try and connect to WiFi at the airport and found out my netbook wouldnt connect there for some reason. SOooooooo.. Its now Saturday, we are here in Uganda at our hotel where we have internet. We got in about 1am this morning.  We found out there is actually a 7 hour difference between here and Atlanta. WOOOHOO!!
Today is mostly down-time and just getting settled and re-oriented. Nancy's suitcase is still coming from Amsterdam so we are needing to go shopping for a nice outfit for here for tomorrow morning. So there's nothing exciting to tell just yet.  Its good to be back here and looking forward to some great time ministering and sharing... more to come! : )  Please continue to pray for us: we should be speaking twice tomorrow morning and not completely sure what else is planned for the day... : )

Hmmm just saw a family of monkeys outside of our hotel room... they tell us to be sure we keep our windows and all closed... haha

Thursday, September 1, 2011

Wow here we are... 8am Thurs morning... getting last minute stuff together. Making sure all the ducks are watered and the plants are in a row, uh... actually ducks in a... well you get the idea...
We are headed to the airport around 11a, fly to Amsterdam around 3p get in at 6a tomorrow their time (6 hours ahead so that really makes it midnight here in Atlanta).
My intent is to try and keep up with this and relay back some of the interesting things that are going on.  : )  Check back often and we'll see where all this goes over the next couple weeks!  WOOHOO!!
